Panda Cory tank mates

Choosing the right tank mates for Panda Corydoras, or Panda Corys, is essential to creating a harmonious and thriving community aquarium. Panda Corys are peaceful and social fish that get along well with a variety of other species, particularly those that share their calm temperament. They do best in a community tank with other non-aggressive fish that prefer similar water conditions—soft to moderately hard water with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5, and temperatures ranging from 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C).

Good tank mates for Panda Corys include small to medium-sized fish such as Neon Tetras, Cardinal Tetras, Guppies, and Harlequin Rasboras. These species are also peaceful and enjoy similar water conditions, making them ideal companions. Additionally, other Corydoras species, like the Bronze Cory or the Pepper Cory, can cohabit well with Panda Corys, creating a lively group of bottom-dwellers that will interact and shoal together. Shrimp, such as Cherry Shrimp, can also be a good addition, as they occupy different levels of the tank and contribute to the cleaning process without posing a threat to the Corys.

It’s important to avoid housing Panda Corys with larger, more aggressive species like Cichlids or Barbs, as these fish can stress or even harm the gentle Corydoras. Fin-nipping species should also be avoided to prevent injury to the Corys’ delicate fins. When setting up the tank, ensure there are plenty of hiding spots, such as caves, driftwood, and dense plants, to allow all fish to retreat and feel secure. Providing a peaceful environment with compatible tank mates will help your Panda Corys thrive, showing off their natural behavior and adding life to your aquarium.
